How does the bar handle discounts on the cart and checkout pages?

The Free Shipping Bar retrieves the total order amount directly from Shopify. When a discount code is applied on the cart page, the bar reflects this updated total immediately.

The checkout page presents a different scenario due to Shopify’s security restrictions. Shopify does not allow any apps to access the checkout page for security reasons. Consequently, the Free Shipping Bar cannot display updated messaging when customers apply discount codes during checkout.

An important consideration: if a discount applied at checkout reduces the cart total below the free shipping threshold, the bar will display its initial message again, since it calculates based on the final discounted total rather than the pre-discount amount.
